Memorial Day Post

I sketched that. The original, I believe,
was the size of a 3x5 notecard.
Sorry for the poor quality of this image.

This is post 1 of 6. It is short, and to the point. Most of the time, it is better to start out small and quiet, and finish the job, then begin with thunder and bluster, only to peter out, never completing the goal.

It is now 7:22 on the morning of Memorial Day. The house is quiet, because the cats have been fed, and everyone else is a asleep. As I mentioned in yesterday's post, my goal this week is to blog each day in order to reach two-hundred-and-fifty milestone by next weekend. It may even reinforce this particular writing habit, which I have been neglecting it these past two years.

Today, the last Monday of May, is dedicated to honoring those who died while serving in the United States armed forces. It is not to be confused with Veterans' Day, observed annually on November 11th, and honors all those, living or dead, who served in the US military.

While I have a lot to say about patriotism, past wars, and my country's foreign policy, today I will refrain from sharing. A piece of advice, instead of listening to politicians, pundits, and influencers who never served, or ever considered the idea, glorify the military's dead, perhaps spend some time with the words of people who witnessed the deaths of those whom we dedicate this holiday.  Or, on the rare occasion we have it, the direct words of those who died
